A Little Project...
I have looked all over town for an affordable cloche. I see so many on the decorating blogs. Then one day I found a post on one of those blogs about making your own cloche!
So off to Hobby Lobby I went to get supplies.
This is a vase turned upside down. Also a votive candle holder and some E6000 glue. I already had the tarnished old brass door knob I'd picked up somewhere.
I got out my trusty Goo Gone to remove the price tags. Uh oh, looks like some of the goo is gone from that label! A paper towel and the ever faithful (and OLD) Tupperware orange peeler. Do any of you remember those? Do you have one hanging around? My husband actually uses them to peel his oranges. Not this one of course!
I guess I got carried away by the moment and forgot to take the assembly pictures. Sorry. Basically, you turn the votive holder upside down and glue it to the top of the upside down vase. Then glue the door knob on top! Voila, a cheap cloche!
Here it is in a little vignette on top of the china cabinet. Looks like I need to stop creating and do a little dusting.
Those are some little child's dishes my Mom brought back from England. The plates are in a toast holder also from England. The little bitty vase with dried roses is actually the bottom of a knife (cut off) glued to a flattened spoon with a bent handle. Very clever! No, I found it at an antique store.
If you've made a cloche I'd like to see pictures of yours!

Wonky!
This is a wonky little quilt top! Not on purpose, mind you. What's that they say...I done my best? Well, I did.
Remember a few posts ago when I showed you how pressing the seams open made the blocks lie flat? I went back and fixed all the blocks. I had to force myself to get this little quilt to the top stage so it wouldn't go into the UFO pile. At least now it's on the To Be Quilted pile.
I'll tell you it looks a lot better from far away! LOL! Oh, well. It's ready to be quilted and then I'll add it to my little quilt wall.
Last weekend I hung four little quilts in the hall over the pie safe that holds quilts. I'm going to add all my little quilts from the Fit To Frame series by Lori Smith to this wall as I finish them.
This is my new design wall (in the hall). I have another one in my quilt room but I needed unobstructed access to hang up blocks for quilts. So, this is design wall #2. I've already started putting up the Don't Fence Me In blocks. I still have to cover the foam insulation with flannel.
The other day we had Taco Bell for lunch! It's a little messy but the Tootie Babies love it. Almost as much as bananas or pudding!

That's it for today!

STRESS and coping...
Have you ever heard about people who have bad habits to cope with stress? Like eating everything in sight or worrying themselves into a lather...
Well, yesterday I had to go to the dentist to have a final crown put on...ack!!! Shots and pain make me freak out! So, when I got home from the dreaded dental appointment I was so stressed...I needed a way to unwind. My way of coping is to hibernate in the sewing room, find the most colorful stack of fabric , cut it up and start sewing!
Now, I hear you saying, "That's not a bad habit!". Well, I beg to differ! I have a stack of UFOs that need to be worked on (don't we all). Remember the Jellie Bellies I started not too long ago? That is ready for the design wall? Oh, you get the picture.
Look at this beautiful stack of fat quarters. It's an oldie but goodie~Hanna Bella from Robyn Pandolph. I took out a stack of whites and greens for the borders. I'm going to make Don't Fence Me In by Miss Rosie's Quilt Co.
I saved my selvages! I've almost forgotten why I was stressed in the first place.
Look how neat and pretty! I'm a happy camper!
Sewing, sewing , sewing! Boy, that is just what I needed! The tension in my neck and shoulders is disappearing.
Pinned the triangles to the sides. I used every pin! So, I cleaned all the fuzz and threads off my pincushion. I've got quite a few more to pin and sew. So, the stress relief continues tomorrow!

Pressed each and every one. I can feel my jaws unclenching.
Started cutting strips and squares... my headache is going away.I saved my selvages! I've almost forgotten why I was stressed in the first place.

A Little More Positive...
Back again to post something a little more positive. LOL! I actually got up out of bed and went into my quilting room. Oh, it felt good in there!
I've been looking at these blocks on my sewing table and nearly put them away. That's what I do when I hit a road block - save it for another day and then A UFO IS BORN!
Lori Smith often tells you in her pattern instructions to iron the seams open. I guess I'm one of those old dogs you can't teach a new trick to because I never press my seams open! Well, my blocks were looking a little lumpy so I thought...give it a try. Just open up the seam and press it for Pete's sake!
Look what happened! The back of the block went from this:
To this!
OK, new trick learned! I'll be pressing my seams open more often from now on. I almost wore that little block out taking out stitches and putting them back in over and over! Now, I have to rip out the other 5 blocks and get this project out of the danger zone of becoming a UFO.
Do you press your seams open or to the side and do you have any thoughts you want to share with me about this subject?
OK, now back to bed for some rest!

SICK!!!
How did I ever expect to escape this? I should have known while I was kissing and cuddling those sick babies that I too would succumb. LOL!!! What a naive NaNa I am!
Anyway, I've lived through the worst of it with lots of care from Nurse KJ (my sweet husband). Hopefully I will be back in full swing next week. At the very least, I'd better be able to drink something besides Gatorade!

A Few Little Things
The other night I started this...then I actually finished it!
Remember all those BOM from last year? Well, this is one of them. Sweet Sixteen Lori Smith Fit To Frame: Set Four
I felt kind of guilty for starting something new so I finished this top with machine quilting. Another Lori Smith pattern, Four Patch Fanny from Fit To Frame: Set Five.
So, since these are so addictive and fast to finish I completed this top. Fit To Frame: Set Five, Wish Upon A Star.
Why stop when you are on a roll? Heritage Pride, Lori Smith Fit To Frame: Set Five.
Whew!
I'd show you a picture of the Tootie Babies but they are sick with a stomach bug. Mommy too. Daddy and Nana are hoping it passes them by. We'll see...
