I Broke My Sewing Machine...

Yep, did it all by myself too! Who knew that part wasn't supposed to come out? Anyway, it's being fixed to the tune of $145.00. Good grief, that was an expensive home cleaning.

So, what am I doing while I can't piece on the machine? Why do I want to machine piece so badly when I usually would only sew by hand? Applique, of course!

Thrifty, block #8 of Celebration of American Life, a Blackbird Design book.

I'm still making a basket a day. January, February and March.

Five blocks completed out of nine for Holly and Berries. This is a quilt in Small Favorites for All Seasons also by Blackbird Designs. I have four blocks to go.

This is month one and two of Holly and Mistletoe, a block of the month from Homestead Hearth. Ok, the log cabins are machine pieced but I did them way back in January. I love this quilt! It comes from When The Cold Wind Blows by Blackbird Designs.

I'm busy and getting lots of things accomplished just like I normally would. I even borrowed my daughter's machine and still it sits unused. Go figure!

  1. OH NO - a broken sewing machine is not a good thing. However, thank goodness you enjoy handwork and have a wonderful array of projects.

  4. That is an expensive fix. Sewing machines are like cars and appliances to have repaired.
All your applique projects should keep you busy. You certainly have some good ones in the works.

  5. it was YOUR fault that i had to buy
"when the cold wind blows" and start making that holly and mistletoe quilt!! i couldn't remember whose blog I saw it on...

i'm most of the way through the log cabin blocks, all of the stars are done and everything else is cut (well, not the applique pieces, but the backgrounds).

  9. That applique block you are working on is charming. I love the blue check background. Sorry to hear you broke your sewing machine. I sewed over a pin awhile ago and it cost me $125 to get it fixed. Hope you're enjoying the weekend.
