Labels, Labels, Labels!!!

I've been quilting for almost 20 years! I've finished almost 100 quilts! None of them are labeled! Oh, that last one wasn't something to celebrate. I'm doing something about it though...here you will see my latest batch of labels. I'm going to put a label on every quilt I can!

The labels are simple. Just the number, name, my name and the date. Sometimes I'll add where I made the quilt. If there is something else that's important, I'll add that too.

Are you good about labeling your quilts? I'd like to know what you put on your labels. Are they fancy or plain like mine?

  1. Oh I'm so glad you are doing that! I've made a few quilts and no labels. Of course I (oh my gosh get ready for this) wash mine, so maybe the labels wouldn't last?

  2. I like how you are numbering them! There was a time when I labeled...then didn't...now try to...always gifts are labeled with some sort of special saying. Recently I saw that somebody was putting the selvedge into the label if it was all the same fabric designer.

  3. Thank you for the inspiration.
Quilts for church all get a label in them and yes I will put a label in the quilts I am making for my Children and granddaughters for Christmas.
    Your work is beautiful

  4. I label the quilts i give as gifts...but...somehow the ones i keep for myself never seem to get a label....my labels are very plain just names and date....but... i do use the monograming program on my machine to make my labels....

  5. Putting on the labels is kind of a let down for me too. I am usually so happy to just have the binding on that I don't get around to the label. I have just started signing my quilts with name and date using a pigma pen. If it is a special gife, I will do a label.

  6. I put labels on almost all of my quilts. I put the pattern name, my name & where I am living at the time. I put the year also. If it is for a special event, I note that on the label. I have also started putting the book or pattern designer name, if it is not my own design. The reason being, many quilters ask about the pattern. I don't have to search to answer their question.
I don't get fancy with the label with drawings, etc. I did do a photo transfer of my husband's grandmother on the label of quilts made using her quilt blocks.

  7. Yes, I label all my quilts with the quilt name, the name of the person I made it for if it was a gift, my name, date I finished and the city and state I live in. I either embroider with my machine with a cute design, or print out on my computer with a design and/or write in permanent ink with a little drawing of some sort.

  8. I love all the names you've given the quilts...that's the part I struggle with.

    I must admit I've labelled almost every quilt I've made..though I haven't got a clue how many I've made.

  10. I've been putting a label on my quilts from the beginning and I thank God that I did. Sometimes, they are fancy and other times, plain and simple. My labels have the same information as yours, except the addition of the city where the quilt was made.
