WooHoo!
Top
Backing and Binding
What's this? Selvages! I don't know if I'll make anything from them but I've seen some pretty neat selvage quilts on line. Google selvage quilts and check it out for yourself.
Don't you know I found another quilt to make in the American Quilts book!
What have I been doing since last week?
* Had a girl's night out with my quilting friends!
* Did a little stitching. (Can't take pins to the babies house!)
* Worked on a UFO! (Ripping out that ^$%^ Seminole border.)
* Did a little applique. (BOM - Night Before Christmas)
* Worked on a UFO! (Sizing Birds of a Feather blocks.)
* Started something new!
Jelly Bellies, a Miss Rosie's Quilt Co. pattern (of course!) and Mistletoe Manor, a Moda fat quarter bundle by Three Sisters.
The cream colored fat quarters are missing!
Whoa! Look at this! It didn't really take that long to cut out.
Let's start on the border first! Why not? I needed some mindless piecing...
Umm, you didn't think I would get them all right, did you?
* One more thing...I worked on a UFO! (What Comes Around Goes Around.)

Paris Flea Market
The fabric is Three Sister's Paris Flea Market fat quarter bundle. I used the large roses on a yellow background for the backing. (Swooze, this one's for you!)
This is the quilting design my friend Ty used. It is a freehand paisley design and is perfect for this quilt!
A lot of my quilts use fabric lines from Moda. I just love the feel of the fabric, it's so soft. It is just the right weight and the colors stay true even after repeated washings. Besides Three Sisters, I love Blackbird Designs and Minik and Simpson fabric. I think they appeal to my shabby chic, primitive and patriotic color loves.
I also like to make scrap quilts. I usually use a lot of older fabric when piecing them because it's in my stash! I'll have to find some older scrap quilts to show you. I've weeded out all the substandard fabrics like the see through ones and the ones I know will bleed.
Do you have a preference in fabric? I'd love to hear from you!

This is the spot where the surgery is taking place. It's my new chair and a half which makes into a twin bed. Now my sewing room is also a guest room! A couple of nights ago I rearranged my room and cleaned up and put away almost all of the piles. When I am through I'll give you a tour...
This is a project on my design wall right now. It is a Lori Smith pattern, Fit To Frame: Set Six. I finished the applique right before Christmas. The fabrics are Civil War repros on cream backgrounds. I'll sew the blocks together without sashing and put on a border . But, first I have to get back to unsewing...

Another one...
Here is a closeup of the quilting. It's a feather design. The quilting really compliments the design. Thanks Ty!

2008 Large Quilts
Flies In The Barn, another Miss Rosie's Quilt Co. pattern. Moda Blackbird Designs fat quarter bundle. I can't remember the name of this line of fabric but it is one of my favorites. This is one of those quilts where my friends would say, "Those are your colors!".

Kim's new jelly roll pattern...
Check out this cute pattern using a jelly roll.
Sorry about the pictures for the big quilts of 2oo8. We've had rain and clouds for two days. Hopefully I'll get the pictures in the next few days when the sun comes back out.
Oh, I added up my fabric purchased in 2008. I bought 88 yards! That includes six backings and lots of charm squares for gifts to my quilting friends.

2008 Little Quilts
A Lori Smith pattern, Blueberries, Cherries and Cream, BOM. Hand quilted.
Spin City
Miss Rosie's Quilt Co. Schnibbles pattern. Made from two charm packs and a little yardage. Big Stitch quilting.
Red and Black Bow Tie
A UFO from 2005. Each fabric is different. Big Stitch quilting with red thread.
This was a UFO from 1997. I belonged to an online quilt guild (RPLOTN) in the 90s. We chatted every morning over coffee and tea. Someone had a brilliant idea to exchange mugs/tea cups! Just like all block swaps it's not perfect but holds lots of memories for me. It's big stitched with prairie points in the border and hand embroidery.
Of course there were baby announcements for Emily and Sarah.
A block of the month, Lori Smith pattern Chocolate and Cherries. The version I got was called Blueberries, Cherries and Cream. There are nine quilts in this series. Hand appliqued and hand quilted.
