This is another quilt I finished several years ago but never blogged about. It is a Miss Rosie's Quilt Co. pattern, Tag Sale. By now I guess you've realized who my favorite pattern designer is...
The fabric is Three Sister's Paris Flea Market fat quarter bundle. I used the large roses on a yellow background for the backing. (Swooze, this one's for you!)
This is the quilting design my friend Ty used. It is a freehand paisley design and is perfect for this quilt!
A lot of my quilts use fabric lines from Moda. I just love the feel of the fabric, it's so soft. It is just the right weight and the colors stay true even after repeated washings. Besides Three Sisters, I love Blackbird Designs and Minik and Simpson fabric. I think they appeal to my shabby chic, primitive and patriotic color loves.
I also like to make scrap quilts. I usually use a lot of older fabric when piecing them because it's in my stash! I'll have to find some older scrap quilts to show you. I've weeded out all the substandard fabrics like the see through ones and the ones I know will bleed.
Do you have a preference in fabric? I'd love to hear from you!
I just found your blog, and I love it. I can see you are also a Lori Smith fan.You have a lovely blog, that showcases lovely things. Thanks so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteAh, you have used my all time favorite - Paris Flea Market. I like the feel of Moda as well.
ReplyDeleteI like a wide range of fabrics, the quilt you show reminds me of a favorite line from years ago, Robyn Pandoph's first Folk Art Wedding collection.
ReplyDeleteAs I'm typing, I'm thinking I love soft colors, but I also like bold colors, and brights, and the only style of fabric I can say has never done a thing for me is 30's repro fabric, and even then every once in a while I'll see one that I think is pretty. LOL
HMMMM - another one, just like one I made. I do believe we're definitely kindred spirits. :-) Like you, I adore, Miss Rosie's Quilt patterns but it's been quite awhile since I've made one - could be time to change that. LOL I have a few Schnibbles patterns that I've been considering.
ReplyDeleteI'm a huge Moda fan - love everything they do, especially 3 Sisters, Blackbird Designs, Minick & Simpson, Fig Tree Quilts, etc.
Moda fabrics are my favorite to . . . . it's the feel, it's all about the feel!
