To Grandmother's House We Go

Full panel.
Left side.

Right side.

Center.

This is a panel I've completed from a Crabapple Hill design called To Grandmother's House We Go. I used DMC 4140 which is a varigated brown to a very light pink. The background fabric is a cream with light brown dots. This is worked in a backstitch. I've almost finished the second of three panels.
I've really started to enjoy stitching. When I am babysitting for the Tootie Babies I work on this while they play. It's amazing how much I can accomplish!

Sneak Peek

Just a little peek at what's to come! The first block of All Around The Town by Sue Garman. I decided to use fusible applique and buttonhole stitch on this block of the month from Houston St. Mercantile in Granbury, TX. I still need to pull the threads to the back and tie them off.

This is 10 of 20 blocks using my signature squares from the Y2K swap I did in 1999! I know...but better late than never. I think I have finally used up all the 2 1/2 inch squares with this quilt. I made my Y2K quilt and two others from that swap!

Heritage Medallion

This little quilt is actually done!!! Machine pieced and machine quilted.

From a pattern by Lori Smith called Fit To Frame. Another pink and brown to add to my collection on the wall in the upstairs hallway. I'm on my way to filling the entire wall with little quilts.

That is a very old pie safe my Mom gave me for Christmas one year. It is filled with quilts that my grandmothers made and some of my early quilts.

Four Patches Forever

Another Lori Smith pattern. This one is from a 2008 BOM from Homestead Hearth. It's just a top for now.

I took this picture in the upstairs hallway. I laid the quilt top on a child's size oak roll top desk. I gave this little desk to my husband for Christmas one year. He had a similar one when he was young.

The black crayola tin was my grandmothers. She was a school teacher. Inside are some newspaper clippings and a little book where she wrote down all the things she had in her house and how much they cost! For example, in 1950 a sofa cost $125.00! In 1952 a table and six chairs cost $160.00 and in 1940 a Singer sewing machine was $80.00!

Hanging above the desk is a little stitchery I did a couple of years ago.

Heritage Pride

This is a little quilt top from a Lori Smith pattern. It was a 2008 block of the month from Homestead Hearth called Fit To Frame. I love pink and brown together.

The quilt top is laying on a big basket I made while living in Florida. It is full of old bobbins I've collected over the years. I have a lot of them! Used to be, I could find them for a couple of dollars each at flea markets and antique stores. Now they are too expensive for me!

Easter Pictures

The hunt...you can see how well Mommy hid the eggs!

Easter is fun! We are so cute!

What do you mean we have to wear a hat? You know we do not like hats Nana!

Ok, Sarah is distracted. She is OK with the hat...Emily needs Nana's help to get hers back on. She says, "Ow, ow, ow."

Better snap the picture fast Grandaddy...

No, we really don't like these hats!

Ok, I'm out of here!

Oh, I forgot, I don't know how to get down yet!

We had a great Easter!

Pray For Hail

When I first met my friend Ty she told me an important thing to keep in mind...because she and her husband own a roofing business; hail, really big hail, means a good year in store for them. So, she told me to pray for hail! I never laughed so hard!

The other night I got a late night phone call...on the other end was a nearly giddy voice warning me we were about to be pelted with a hail storm. I think it means business is going to be good for Mid Cities Roofing!

As you can see we had really big hail...golf ball size. Yeah, Ty!!!
